Excellent Seafood selection, service and great prices. The Crab Rangoons were definitely homemade and the best I've ever had. I ordered the Shrimp Trio with 3 Coconut Shrimp, 3 Battered Shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce a opted for the Shrimp scampi as my choice for the last 6 Shrimp (hint- save the Asian sauce from the Crab Rangoon to dip 3 of your scampi Shrimp into make it a quad). Good wine pour.
Fantastic experience! Calm intentional atmosphere. Most items are made in-house. Great onion rings (perfect breading and break bite)- coming from a fanatic. Great cocktails sauce - which I don't typically like. Reasonable prices, especially on drinks.
Jenna is amazing. Alan was amazing. The food was amazing. This place was worth every penny. Alan absolutely cares about the food, the quality, and the patron. If you are considering Joey's, you cannot go wrong. Found this gem and cannot wait to come back. Sadly, have to wait until next year. Service annoucement: You must try the cheesy garlic bread!
Wow! Some of the best fish I have ever had in my life. Cooked perfectly the staff was so friendly. Absolutely loved our experience. The decor even had story's to say where it came from which is a very nice touch of detail. Had the 3 piece fish and chips and my lovely partner had the lemon pepper white fish. If you don't get their raspberry lemonade you are wrong. A must go to.
We visited a few restaurants during our stay in Houghton, MI, and I have to say that Joey's is one of the best. As the name promises, there are many fish dishes, but also a good selection of other dishes. And an appealing ambience.
My fiancee and I decided to try Joey's out on a whim. We'd never went there before. We'll definitely be back. The wait staff is awesome! We had Matthew, he was very knowledgeable. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Most of the fish is locally sourced and the sides are house-made. We had the Cajun Calamari, the Lake Superior Trout, and the Joey's Original fish and chips. They give you a good amount of food for what you order. The coleslaw was delicious, fries fresh off the fryer, corn bread was great, and the fish was amazing.
Waiter was very helpful and friendly and provided great recommendations. The food was prepared in a timely manner and it was well seasoned. We order baked Lemon Pepper White Fish and appetizers. Prices were good. The location is nice in the old building section of the city and the ambience in the restaurant was nice, however we were there during the slow time of the day. Overall a good experience, recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant we intended to visit was full for the night and we are so grateful we ended up at Joey’s by chance. We had the best time here! Awesome customer service. Server was friendly, attentive and gave awesome food and drink recommendations. She even offered to have certain seafood selections customized to our liking, even if they weren’t on the menu that way. The drinks were tasty, fun and very affordable. The food was incredible. The crab rangoon actually tasted like there was crab in it, the garlic and parsley potatoes were cooked evenly and had the perfect amount of seasoning, the onion rings were made by hand and lightly fried to perfection, their warm corn muffins were crispy on the outside and deliciously moist inside, and their signature fried fish was the highlight of the night. It was juicy, tender and tasted like heaven. I reply hope I didn’t catch them on a “good night”, because I will be dreaming about this exact meal until the next time I’m in town. Excellent job everyone!!
